Around Town: BC Construction Association releases Fall of 2016 Stat Pack

The BC Construction Association has released its Stat Pack for the Fall of 2016, offering big numbers about the construction industry in British Columbia.

The construction industry accounts for 8.2% of the province’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), according the the BC Construction Association.

According to the BCCA, construction is the number 1 employer in BC’ goods sector, accounting for 8.2% of the province’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). There is currently $329 billion worth of proposed construction projects in this province.

It is estimated one in 69 high school graduates enter a construction trades program within one year of graduation, but there will still be 15,000 unfilled construction jobs by 2025 due to labour shortages. In total, there at 210,100 construction employees in the province of BC with an average wage of $57,700.
