Around Town: VICA Hosts Youth Constructing a Future Program
In November, VICA launched its Youth Constructing a Future program to prepare young adults (18+) for a career in the construction industry. They are recruiting for the next intake on February 20! Participants must be a resident of BC, legally entitled to work in Canada, unemployed, not EI eligible, and not in school.
“Youth Constructing a Future” Program Deliverables:
- Develop job entry skills
- Build your resume and interview skills
- Go to worksites to meet potential employers and learn the do’s and don’ts of construction site culture
- Learn about apprenticeship options
Gain site experience, get to know different tools, and walk awaywith 10 certificates:
- Construction Safety Training System (CSTS)
- OFA First Aid – Certificate
- WHMIS – Certificate
- Fall Protection Training
- Confined Spaces Safety
- Personal Protective Equipment Training
- Ladder Safety
- Forklift Training
- Standardized Traffic Control Training (Flagging)
- Workplace Violence & Harassment
