According to the BC Real Estate Association’s (BCREA) latest Economic Now report, new construction starts in BC are 29.5 per cent above October 2021, but fell by 14 per cent using the seasonally-adjusted annual rate (SAAR).

Last month, there were 1360 active listings in the VIREB zones for single-family homes.  As a comparison, there were under 400 homes listed in October 2021 and over 2,300 in October 2013. Sales from October 2021 are down 37% in single family, 65% in condos and 41 % in townhomes.

Building Permits Third Quarter Statistics for the Comox Valley and Campbell River

Year-to-date third quarter Building Permit statistics for 2022 show a continued downward trend in the number of permits issued in the Comox Valley and Campbell River. Compared year-over-year, 886 permits were issued up to the end of September in 2021 and only 675 in 2022.
