Vancouver Island Real Estate Board (VIREB) recorded 737 unit sales board-wide (all property types) in July. 363 single-family homes sold, down 11 per cent from July 2023. Sales of condos came in at 87 units, decreasing by nine per cent. In the row/townhouse category, 99 units sold, up 16 per cent from 2023.

The BC Multiple Listing Service® (MLS® ) recorded 19% less residential sales in June 2024 compared to June 2023. For Vancouver Island (north of Victoria), active listings were up from 2,973 in June 2023 to 3,999 this June, with 18% sold, compared to 28% in June 2023. For Powell River, active listings were up from 178 to 214, with 11% sold, compared to 17% in June 2023.
(more…)This week’s Building Links report includes the year to day building permit statistics. The $201,292,112 total permit value for 2024 is 8% lower than January to June 2023. Courtenay is down 61% due primarily to five multi-storey buildings started in June 2023 that are now wrapping up construction. Campbell River is up 108%, due primarily to a March 2024 permit for $45 million for renovations to the Strathcona Recreation Centre.
