According to the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board’s (VIREB) January Statistics, the mortgage stress test is taking a toll on housing sales throughout the province with sales of single-family homes from Duncan to Port Hardy dropping by 28 per cent from one year ago.

The Village of Cumberland has experienced significant growth in recent years, with 1300 Cumberland residents having moved to the community between 2011 and 2016. The Official Community Plan indicates that known development could bring more than 4,000 new housing units.

The Ministry of Health held a press release last week and announced that they are bringing 150 long term and end of life permanent beds to the Comox Valley through their partnership with Providence Health Care (PRCC) and Golden Life Management.
