British Columbia Announces New Heat Pump funding in Around Town

The BC and Canada governments have announced $253 million in funding for new heat pumps with electrical service upgrades (if needed), including adding a new qualifying income level.  Depending on income levels, funds could cover up to $24,000.

Real Estate Market Update in Around Town

Vancouver Island Real Estate Board (VIREB) recorded 741 unit sales board-wide (all property types) in April. 376 single-family homes sold, down 2 per cent from April 2023. Sales of condos came in at 75 units, dropping by one per cent. In the row/townhouse category, 83 units sold, down 2 per cent from 2023.

Asbestos disposal at the Campbell River Waste Management Centre is unavailable until further notice.  Until further notice, residents and licensed waste haulers will need to travel to Nanaimo’s solid waste facilities.

Building Permits Quarterly Statistics In Around Town

The Comox Valley to Campbell River building permit total values for the first quarter of 2024 have increased by 51% compared to the first quarter in 2023. However, that is due to a $45,000,000 permit for renovations to the Strathcona Recreation Centre in Campbell River.  Without that permit, total values for the first quarter would have decreased by 16%.
