Following northbound bridge maintenance last month on the Tsable River Bridge, the Inland Island Highway 19 will be closed southbound from Buckley Bay Road starting on May 24. According to Mainroad North Island Contracting, joint armour replacement will be done at the Tsable River Bridge.
A 14 km detour will direct southbound traffic through Buckley Bay and Fanny Bay to reconnect to the highway at Cook Creek Road. According to Drive BC, the detour starts May 24 at noon until noon on Jun 11 with no overloads permitted on May 24 and 25. Both southbound lanes will be closed 24/7 to all vehicle traffic, including cyclists.
