A building permit has been issued in the amount of $24 million for the new Berwick by the Sea seniors’ facility in Campbell River. Tenders have been requested for this project, see inside for more information.
A development permit application has been submitted for the Crown Isle shopping Centre located at the corner of Lerwick and Ryan Roads in Courtenay. Three new buildings will be added, which will include additional commercial space, a restaurant and an auto service station.
Comox Adopts Budget Bylaw
Comox Council has adopted its five year financial plan, with an overall increase of 2.7%, based on its strategic priorities of downtown vitalization and marina enhancement, fiscal balance, infrastructure asset management, improved planning application time lines and processes, and Official Community Plan implementation. An average single family home in Comox will pay an additional $43 in property taxes and an additional $56 in water, sewer and garbage fees this year.
Some of the projects planned for this year include the implementation of a curbside organics collection program, rebuilt tennis courts at Anderton Park, a design for a new Parks and Public Works facility, and a new water line along Birch Street.
The Town has budgeted for $3 million in road resurfacing projects that will include Guthrie Rd, Robb Avenue, Beach Drive, Cedar Avenue, Cortez Crescent, Denman Street, Fir Avenue, Hawthorn Place, Hemlock Avenue, Holly Place, Murphy, Beaton and Walnut Avenue.
