City of Courtenay Requesting Proposals for Pedestrian Crossing at 17th Street
The City of Courtenay has issued a tender for qualified contractors to build a pedestrian crossing at 17th Street in support of the “Rails to Trails” project. Work will consist of constructing curbs, gutters, and sidewalks; replacing one catch basin; eradicating superfluous road markings; painting a new zebra crosswalk; and installing concrete bases for pedestrian beacons. This tender closes on October 1, 2013.
Design is Underway for Sanitary-Sewer Upgrade at Headquarters Road and Vanier Drive
The design of a sanitary-sewer upgrade on Headquarters Road and Vanier Drive in Courtenay is underway by McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. and will be completed later this year. The city will get an accurate estimate on project costs, and it will be presented to council for approval during the 2014 budget process. A tender is expected to be released early in 2014. This project is estimated to cost between $1.1 and $1.5 million.
Construction of The Ridge Subdivision in Courtenay Now Complete
Construction of the subdivision in Courtenay known as The Ridge is complete, and 17 lots are sold and/or spoken for. Construction is underway on new homes. Phase 1 includes 69 lots, and this new subdivision is located on Buckstone Road, near Comox Logging Road and Fraser Road in Courtenay.
