First Quarter Construction Statistics Show Construction Values Up Due to Hospital Construction
We feature the first quarter construction statistics in this issue. Overall construction values are up by 533% mostly due to the construction of the new hospitals in both Courtenay and Campbell River. Total construction values for 2015 for the Comox Valley region and Campbell River total $188 million. Residential construction is down slightly compared to last year.
Vista Housing Society Holding Open House for Proposed Development on Comox Avenue
The Vista Housing Society is holding an open house on Thursday April 23 from 3:00-7:00 pm at the Comox United Church to inform the community and obtain public feedback on its proposed redevelopment at 2240 Comox Avenue. The Vista Housing Society has proposed an affordable housing development for adults and seniors over the age of 55 that would see a complex with 74 self-contained units built on the site.
Development Permit Issue for Brown’s Bay Resort Redevelopment
An environmentally sensitive development permit (ESA DP) has been issued for the redevelopment of Brown’s Bay Resort, and is currently being reviewed by project engineers. The development of the resort community will include residential, commercial and recreational land uses. In total, 106 residential strata lots are planned to be built in four phases.
