Comox Mall submits development permit for new building
The Comox Mall will be getting a makeover. A development permit application has been submitted to the Town of Comox. A separate one-storey building will be constructed facing Comox Avenue and some of these units will be available for lease. Council is expected to consider the application on September 21. Once all approvals are in place, the owner is expected to begin the renovations.
Site preparation starts for north Courtenay connector project
Construction has started on the north Courtenay connector project and the initial work includes site preparation and the placement of preloading materials to compress soft soils. In early 2017, a tender will be issued for the remaining construction work, including the new bridge. The new connector is anticipated to be finished in time for the opening of the new Comox Valley Hospital in late 2017.
Application received to upgrade Shelter Bay Resort
An application has been received to permit a renovation and upgrade of Shelter Bay Resort which is located in the Mitlenatch area of the Oyster Bay-Buttle Lake Electoral Area. The resort was recently sold and the new owners wish to bring the historic structures into compliance and improve the overall form and character of the site.
