Comox Valley Regional District Awards Tender for Phase 1 Closure of Waste Management Centre
The Comox Valley Regional District has awarded the contract for the Phase 1 Closure of the Comox Valley Waste Management Centre to Wacor Holdings Ltd in the amount of $5,615,468. This large and complex capital project is expected to have an aggressive summer 2015 construction schedule, with work scheduled to be complete in October of 2015.
Brewster Lake Road Closed for John Hart Dam Generating Station Replacement Project
Brewster Lake Road is now closed for the next three years as part of the John Hart Dam generating station replacement project. A temporary construction bridge has now been installed, with fencing on the north and south sides. Blasting in the north and south tunnels and the generating station cavern will continue until June, and is progressing at a pace of approximately 5 metres per day.
Construction on new Uchucklesaht Cultural Centre Expected to Begin Mid-April in Port Alberni
The invited bidding process for sub trades is on-going for the former Somass Hotel and construction is scheduled to begin on a new cultural centre and central administrative office for the Uchucklesaht Tribe in mid-April. Contracts are being let to sub-trades directly. See inside this issue for more information on all of these projects.
