2015 construction statistics available in this issue
We have the year-to-date statistics in this issue for 2015, which compares the permits and construction values of 2015 to 2014. Total construction values total $305 million, mostly due to the construction of the new hospitals in both Courtenay and Campbell River. Construction of single family homes remain stable in both Comox and Courtenay and is down considerably in Campbell River, the Comox Valley Regional District and Cumberland. Deep Water Intake at Comox Lake plan nearing completion
The watershed protection plan is near completion for the Deep Water Intake at Comox Lake. The draft plan is complete with an implementation plan currently under development. Finalization of the plan is expected in early 2016.
Renovation and addition at Toyota dealership in Campbell River moving ahead
A revised development permit application is expected to be submitted in February for the Toyota Dealership project which includes a new 18,000 sq. ft. addition and renovation to the existing building. Once the development permit approval has been received, it is expected that a building permit application will be submitted in March. Some of the existing building will be demolished. Ketza Pacific Construction is the project manager. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2016 once the building permit is in place.
