SD #71 issued building permit for Vanier upgrade
School District #71 has been issued a building permit with a value of $23 million for the the seismic upgrade of Vanier Secondary School in Courtenay. This is a $33.8 million project that will see the front administration and two-storey sections of the school demolished and replaced with new classrooms and an administrative and staff room area. Heatherbrae Builders is the general contractor for this project.
Courtenay expects draft subdivision control bylaw in fall
City of Courtenay staff are currently reviewing and revising the existing Subdivision Control Bylaw, with the expectation of completing a draft updated bylaw by Fall 2016. This bylaw regulates the subdivision of lands, establishes standard of services for new subdivisions within the City of Courtenay.
Three bids for Coal Creek sewer project in Port Alberni
The City of Port Alberni received three bids for the Coal Creek Sanitary Sewer Upgrades, ranging in value from $492,832 to $598,476. The work involves separating the existing combined sewer from 1st to 5th Avenue between Montrose Street and Melrose Street.
