SD#71 issues tender for  G.P. Vanier seismic upgrade
School District #71 has issued the second tender package for the seismic upgrade of Vanier Secondary School in Courtenay. This is a $33.8 million project that will see the front administration and two-storey sections of the school demolished and replaced with new classrooms, and administrative and staff room areas. All mechanical and electrical systems will be updated for seismic safety, and the entire school will receive new windows, siding and roof.
Jimmie Creek run-of-river expansion to be complete in August
The Jimmie Creek run-of-the-river expansion is expected to be in commercial operation in August of this year. This project is a renewable power facility being constructed in the Toba Valley on Jimmie Creek, approximately 80 km northeast of Powell River. When complete, Jimmie Creek will have the potential to produce electricity for over 15,000 homes.
South Sewer Project referendum to be held Saturday June 18
The referendum on the South Sewer Project will be held Saturday June 18 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Royston Elementary School and the Union Bay Community Church. To read the questions, visit www.comxovalleyrd.ca/vote or visit the project office at 3843 Livingstone Road (Royston) between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (or until 7 p.m. on June 15).
