New Mixed Use Building Proposed for Tyee Plaza in Campbell River
A mixed use building is being proposed for the Tyee Plaza. The new building will include commercial space on the ground floor and and an additional 70 residential units on the upper levels. The residential units proposed will be senior oriented apartments. The schematic design of the building wraps around Spirit Square and includes walking paths, gardens, trees and landscape elements that will enhance the project and the Tyee Plaza.
Campbell River Landfill Closure
Work continues on the design of Phase II to close the existing Campbell River landfill. It is expected Phase II will be tender ready in the fall of 2015. Staff are currently addressing updates by the BC Ministry of Environment to the landfill criteria for municipal solid waste. The entire shutdown is expected to cost $10 million and will be completed by 2018.
Ladore Dam Intake Operating Gate to Be Complete by Summer 2015
Work is expected to begin on the installation of BC Hydro supplied intake operating gate at Ladore Dam in May. Brymark Group Inc. was awarded the contract. The supply and installation work at Ladore is required to start in the spring of 2015 with a completion date of summer 2015.
