Third quarter construction statistics and values
In this issue we feature the third quarter construction statistics and values from January to September, 2015. Over all construction values were up by 121% during the third quarter of 2015 compared to 2014, mostly due to the construction of the new hospitals in Campbell River and Courtenay, and the John Hart Dam generating station replacement project. Total values this quarter were $274 million compared to $123 million last year.
Westerly Hotel intends to convert hotel suites into seniors residences
The Westerly Hotel is moving forward with a development permit application to convert some of their hotel suites into seniors residences. The application is expected to be presented in November for Phase I which will see 48 seniors residences built.
Detailed design nearly complete for Campbell River water supply project
Detailed design is nearly complete for the City of Campbell River water supply project and the first of two tender packages for this project is expected to be released in December or January. Construction will be done in two phases, beginning with the lake intake in February of 2016, following by the pump station and treatment building to begin in August of 2016. Tenders for the pump station are expected to be issued in February of 2016.
