The City of Powell River is currently considering a number of new development applications that could have a huge impact on the city, its economy and its population.
Powell River working on multiple development applications
The planning staff at the City of Powell River have been busy with new development applications that, if approved, will provide a diversity of projects that will change the economy and the population in Powell River. Some of the new projects include: a master planned community featuring a private university at the core of the property, a proposed 77-unit seniors housing next to Powell River General Hospital, and an international school campus proposed for the 30-acre Townsite parcel.
Pre-Qualification tender complete for Water Treatment Building in Campbell River
The pre-qualification tender for the construction of the City of Campbell River’s new Water Treatment Building located at the John Hart Lake is now complete. An invitation-only tender is expected to be issued this week to the qualifying general contractors and sub-contractors. That tender will close in late September, and recommendations for award are expected to be before council in mid-October.
AFC Construction wins tender package for Vanier upgrades
The first of two tender packages for Vanier Secondary School seismic upgrade was awarded to AFC Construction in July, and work involved selective demolition and hazardous material abatement necessary to prepare for the seismic upgrade. Results from the second round of tender packages are expected to be announced soon.
