Angela Zumbo of The Mortgage Centre Comox Valley and Daryl Robbins Notary Public, in partnership, invite you to join them in supporting Y.A.N.A. (You Are Not Alone).

Y.A.N.A. was founded in 1986 to help families in School District 71 whose children need medical treatment not available locally. This unique charity has funded thousands of trips for medical treatment in Vancouver, Victoria, Toronto, and even the U.S. and England.

Angela and Daryl both grew up in the Comox Valley and, as local business owners, want to give back to their community on a larger scale. As proud supporters of Y.A.N.A., they’re throwing a fun, uplifting event that will entertain adults of all ages, while raising funds for the organization.

Daryl and Angela are hosting a Vegas Extravaganza Night on January 11, 2014, that will include a traditional Italian five-course meal, live music, and entertainment, as well as a social casino and poker tournament. (Poker tickets are nearly sold out!) Themed “Vintage Vegas,” the event will capture the look and feel of the 1920s and 1930s.

To make Vegas Extravaganza Night a success, Angela and Daryl need event sponsors and volunteers.

“We’ve set our sights high to reach our goal of bringing the community together to help Y.A.N.A. as much as we possibly can,” says Angela. “In doing so, we’re looking to Comox Valley businesses for support through purchasing sponsorship packages.”

It’s a great advertising opportunity and a chance to support an amazing charity.

“For Y.A.N.A. families, your support will feel like a warm community hug on a cold winter day. We’re also hoping to energize peoples’ spirits after the busy holiday season,” states Angela.

Angela and Daryl are also seeking volunteers to fill various positions for the event.

“Currently, we need approximately 15 wait staff to assist in serving meals. We also have positions open in our casino for blackjack dealers, wheel-of-fortune attendants, and poker dealers,” says Angela. “These volunteers would need to have good knowledge of these casino games.”

There are also positions for casino and bar ticket sales, security for gaming areas, runners for the casino areas, and bar staff for anyone with a “Serving it Right” certification.

Vintage Vegas Extravaganza will be held on January 11, 2014, at Comox Community Centre on Noel Avenue in Comox. The event begins at 5:00 p.m. and will run until around 11:00 p.m. Volunteers will need to meet before the event in order to familiarize themselves with their duties and coordinate with area supervisors

For more information, visit the event website, call Angela Zumbo at 250.898.8821, or email zumbo.a@mortgagecentre.com. If you’d like to volunteer, email your name and contact information to Angela, along with the position you’re interested in filling. Tickets for the event are $100 for the dinner alone and $200 for dinner and poker. Tickets may be purchased at the following locations:

  • The Mortgage Centre, 108 – 2100 Guthrie Road, Comox
  • Daryl Robbins Notary Public, 520 – 4th Street, Courtenay
