Home Energy Rebates in Around Town

February 29, 2024

Two Vancouver Island jurisdictions are helping their communities improve their home’s energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gases.

Are you looking to make your home more energy efficient? Homeowners in Campbell River, Courtenay, Cumberland and the CVRD are getting a helping hand from their local governments.

The City of Campbell River is providing $15,000 in funding from the Climate Action Reserve Fund to extend their top-up rebate for electric air source heat pumps. The rebate will now be available until March 31, 2024. The program adds $350 to the CleanBC Better Homes and BC Hydro rebate when switch from a fossil fuel (oil, natural gas, or propane) heating system to an electric air source heat pump. The program is administered by the BC Government and rebates will be approved on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Comox Valley Regional District has introduced the Home Energy Navigation Service for homes in Courtenay and Cumberland. Interested residents will be assigned a virtual energy coach to help identify federal and provincial rebates available on windows, insulation and primary heating sources. Participants can also expect help selecting a contractor; help reviewing quotes and EnerGuide reports; review of required documentation for application; verification of eligibility; and regular check-ins to ensure progress when needed.
