Your Weekly Construction Briefing

Recent examples in the news describing instances of discrimination and harassment on construction sites highlight the importance of the Builders Code (www.builderscode.ca), a BCCA managed program that defines an acceptable worksite to ensure a safe and productive environment for all workers.

The BC Construction Association is looking for participants for a worksite culture survey as part of its Builders Code pilot program. The program seeks to help BC’s construction employers easily adopt and champion HR policies guaranteeing the equal and fair treatment of women in BC’s industrial, commercial, and institutional (ICI) construction workforce.

Everything starts with a policy.  The Builders Code team has developed baseline policies that any employer can use.  The policies are extremely important to communicate expectations to staff, and to guide you if and when the need for discipline, or even termination, arises.

Help keep BCCA informed by completing a short 5-7 minute worksite culture survey (bit.ly/surveybcca), and enter to win a $300 Amazon Gift Card.
