Multi-Family Switch to Heat Pump Rebates

October 24, 2024

The BC government is providing rebates to help cover the costs of whole-building retrofits to install heat pumps, LED lights, better windows, and ventilation to make apartments, condos and co-op homes more energy efficient.

BC Hydro and the Government of B.C have expanded rebates and support for energy retrofits to the multifamily buildings. Starting in 2025, rebates will extended to individual owners and renters in multi-family buildings.

The program is designed to encourage energy-efficiency and the program will be expanded next year to include owners and renters of individual units.

Current offers include rebates and support for Opportunity Assessments, Feasibility studies, and  equipment upgrades. They are available to stratas, market rentals, and equity co-ops with low and high-rise apartments, and stacked townhome buildings three storeys or higher with common area lighting and central mechanical systems.

These are retrofit projects only, and the building myst be located in BC Hydro’s service territory. For more information visit BC Hydro or visit betterhomesbc.ca for details.
