Quarterly Building Permit Statistics in Around Town

Comparing the year-to-date 2023 and 2024 building permits for the Comox Valley and Campbell River, the number of permits for single and secondary family decreased by only 2% with decreases in Comox and Cumberland offset by increases in Campbell River and Courtenay.

While the year-to-date construction values have decreased by 18 percent from 2023, primarily due to a decrease in multifamily buildings, this year’s total is only $10M below the third quarter 2022 total of $286.8M.

In 2023, 653 multifamily units were under construction, compared to 175 so far this year
