Your Weekly Construction Briefing
Compared to 2020, the 2021 January to June construction values for the Comox Valley to Campbell River have decreased slightly by 0.32% from $166.83 million to $166.30 million.
Residential growth has increased by 85.6% from $85.7 to $159 million with 49 more homes, seven less multi- family units, 64 more duplex to fourplex units, and 45 more renovation projects. While Campbell River had no multi-family building permits up to the end of June, there were several issued in July.
Commercial totals have decreased dramatically. In 2020, three large million dollar commercial projects in Courtenay pushed overall permit statistics 17.5% higher ($24.8 million) than the first half of 2019. When comparing 2021 values to 2020 values without those projects, commercial totals have still decreased by 13% (1.48 million).
