Comox: A DP for a new 15 unit townhouse complex has been approved.

A new 15 unit townhouse complex has been approved for Comox. In 2020, Cameron Contracting Ltd. applied for a proposed zoning amendment to rezone 468 Anderton Road and a 5.5 m wide portion of 490 Anderton Road to facilitate the creation of 15 two storey units within 11 townhouse units and 4 duplex units. The townhomes will be built in one triplex and two fourplexes. The units are all proposed as 3 bed, 2 1/2 bath, ranging from 1353 to 1382 sq.ft. and will be built in phases. These units will also be for sale.

Cumberland: A building permit has been issued for the first building in the new 6 lot industrial subdivision. 

A $3.1 million building permit has been issued to Acciano Development Ltd. for the first building in Cumberland’s new industrial subdivision. The permit is for a 26,726 sq ft commercial building and will be the new warehouse and processing facility for Tree Island Yoghurt. Council issued a development permit for the project in in May of 2021, and all six lots were sold by August 2021. The new businesses are expected to include small to large storage units and office/industrial buildings including the new home of Drewry Electric. The subdivision is just north of the Comox Valley Waste Management Centre on Bevan Road.

Courtenay: A DP  for a six-storey, 50-unit apartment building has been approved. 

Courtenay Council has approved a development permit application for a six-storey, 50-unit apartment building near the 17th Street Bridge. The applicant has agreed to provide 10% of the number of units in the new building (5 studio units) as affordable housing units. Two of the units will be in the existing building and three of the units will be provided in the proposed building. The proposed rental rates for the 5 affordable units will be $712 to $807/month, calculated based on a 27% reduction of prevailing market pricing for similar units for a period of 10 years. The remaining units in this new building at The Residence at Riverside are expected to range in size from 360 sq.ft. for studio units to 626 sq.ft. for one-bedroom units. Rents are proposed as $895 for a studio and raise to $1,295-$1,595 for 1-bedroom units.
