Comox Valley: K’omoks First Nations looking at developing 198 acres.
K’omoks First Nations has approached local municipalities for letters of support for a Reserve Application for 198 acres between Union Bay and Royston. The KFN purchased the parcels 11 years ago and is applying to amend the status from Fee Simple to Reserve Land in order to develop a new reserve with administration, housing, community-support functions, and economic development initiatives. The three properties are located on the west side of the Island Highway South, across from Spindrift Road. One property fronts the highway for approximately a kilometer, with the other two adjacent properties extending the project westward.
Courtenay: Site preparation for mixed-use 59-unit four-storey apartment building.
Site preparation is underway on this mixed use site at 574 Cumberland Road. The ground floor will include commercial space for seven units, three of which will prominently face Cumberland Road and four units will be located at the rear of the building. The upper three floors will house 52 rental apartments in a variety of floorplans as follows: 38 Studio Apartments, 11 One-Bedroom Units and three Two-Bedroom units. The square footage will range from 312 to 775 sq. ft.
