Cumberland: Proposed 34 unit apartment for affordable housing.
The Village of Cumberland, in partnership with M’akola Housing, is proposing amendments to the RM-4 Residential Multi-Family Zone to facilitate the construction of an affordable rental apartment building on Second Street. The proposed changes include increased building height to raise the maximum height from three to four stories to accommodate additional housing units. To accommodate this height increase, the RM-4 zone will also be amended to increase the permitted number of units per hectare to allow for approximately 34 units on this lot to reflect the additional units on the fourth floor. These amendments aim to strengthen the application for funding from BC Housing. A public information meeting will be held in an open house format on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Village Council Chamber, 2675 Dunsmuir Avenue. For more information, please contact the Development Services Department at 250-336-2291 or via email at planning@cumberland.ca.
