Courtenay: Approvals proceeding for 30 unit commercial-residential development.
Courtenay City council has given third reading to a 30 unit, five-storey mixed-use commercial-residential development on Mansfield Drive. The applicant has proposed a new comprehensive development zone to allow the construction of a new pub and liquor store and 30 condominiums with underground parking.
Powell River: Eight new townhomes under construction.
Powell River has issued a building permit for eight townhomes. The townhomes are part of a 20-unit development that began in 1995, and will also include a 12-unit apartment building.
Comox: Multimillion-dollar Request for Proposals to address fire fighting contaminants at CFB Comox.
The Department of National Defence has issued a request for proposals for a $20 million to $30 million dollar project to address contamination from fire fighter training activities at CFB Comox. The project is part of a source control program at the Fire Fighting Training Area (FFTA) of CFB Comox to address contamination from historical fire fighter training activities in the area.
