The Comox Valley Regional District moved to Stage 3 water restrictions on June 23. This is the earliest the Valley has been required to move to Stage 3.
The restrictions apply to residents in the Town of Comox, City of Courtenay, K’ómoks First Nation, and the Comox Valley Water Local Service Area.
The CVRD water license requires Stage 3 water restrictions when BC Hydro reduces flow in the Puntledge River to below 11.3 cubic metres per second. This reduction reflects lower-than-normal snowpack and precipitation levels.
Under Stage 3 restrictions, lawn watering, pressure washing pavement, filling swimming pools, hot tubs or garden ponds, and residential vehicle washing are prohibited.
