The Vancouver Island Real Estate Board (VIREB) March report noted that despite some hesitation among buyers, Vancouver Island’s housing market continues to show stability compared to other regions in the province.

March sales for all property types were up one percent from one year ago, recording 636 unit sales. Active listings were 3,776, up two per cent. By category, 302 single family homes sold in March, up two per cent year-over year; 72 condos sold, down 15 per cent; and 71 row/townhome units sold, down three per cent.
Board-wide the benchmark price of a single-family home was $780,500 in March 2026, unchanged year-over-year; an apartments was $390,000, down four per cent; and a townhouse was $537,000, down two per cent.
By region, the benchmark price of a single-family home was $780,500 in March 2026, unchanged from one year ago. In Campbell River, the benchmark price of a single-family home was $684,900, Comox Valley’s was $849,700, Port Alberni’s was $515,700, and $439,300 for the North Island.
