Ucluelet: $21 million Water Treatment Plant to be in 2026.
After 16 months of design work, plans are now complete for Ucluelet’s new Water Treatment Plant at the Lost Shoe Creek aquifer well site. This new facility will remove iron and manganese from the water supply, finally tackling Ucluelet’s long-standing “brown water” issues. Construction is set to begin this winter, with the plant expected to be up and running by fall 2026. This project will provide residents with cleaner, clearer, and more reliable drinking water for years to come. The District of Ucluelet had adopted a phased approach involving multiple contractors and suppliers. An invitation to tender for a General Contractor for the remaining scope of work closed in August 2025. The full $20.7 million water capacity and filtration improvements project has been underway since September 2023 and is expected to be completed in October 2026.
