Comox Valley Regional District: invites tenders for the Dyke Road Park – Phase 2 project
The Comox Valley Regional District invites Tenders for the Dyke Road Park – Phase 2 project, involving site preparation, grading, landscape construction, and installation of park amenities. Phase 1 of the project wrapped up early 2025 with removing the viewing platform, estuary channel work, estuary revitalization and plantings; installation of boardwalk and viewing platform over newly created fish channel. Phase includes the parking area, main viewing structure, gravel pathways, rain garden, plantings, and park signage. In 2023, the CVRD was awarded $1,135,454 to redevelop the parking lot and viewing area. This opportunity closes December 10.
Courtenay: seeking construction management firms for the East Courtenay Firehall project
The City of Courtenay is seeking Proposals from qualified construction management firms for preconstruction, construction and post construction services for the East Courtenay Firehall project, located at 220 Waters Place in Courtenay BC. The City anticipates using a Construction Manager-at-Risk project delivery method. The City intends to engage a CM for pre-construction under a CCDC 5B (2010)– Construction Management Contract for Services and Construction (“CCDB 5B”). This approach is intended to support early integration of the CM into the project team, enabling valuable input during the design and pre-construction phases. The selected CM will work collaboratively with the City, the architectural consultant and supporting design team, and the Courtenay Fire Department to deliver a value-driven facility that respects budget constraints and project timelines, while upholding the operational objectives and design intent of the project.
Comox: Official Community Plan public hearing on November 26
Council has given first and second reading to the Official Community Plan Bylaw Update, and scheduled a public hearing for Wednesday November 26 at 5:00 pm at d’Esterre House in Comox. In October, Council deferred consideration of first and second reading to consider pre-zoning 1000 Pritchard Road, 1490 Cambridge Road and 1603 Brighton Road in Northeast Comox for multi-family apartment use up to four storeys in height. Staff have also included 1150 Pritchard Road as it is adjacent to the first three parcels. As a result of the pre-zoning, the Airport Corridor is no longer considered a second priority Growth Area for the Town compared to the other Growth Areas. However, there is still language to note that infrastructure projects to extend services to the parcels within the Airport Corridor may remain second priority compared to other Growth Areas when it comes to DCC project selection since such projects would likely only benefit developments in this area. The draft update also carries over the requirement for 12-metre natural vegetation buffers fronting Pritchard Road from Guthrie Road to Knight Road.
