Campbell River: provincial budget cancels long-term care facility

Following the British Columbia provincial budget announcement in February, the planned 153-bed long-term care facility in Campbell River has been delayed indefinitely. While the 2026 budget boosts overall provincial healthcare funding by $2.8 billion over three years, it is delaying several capital projects—including seven long-term care homes—to manage “unsustainable” construction costs. The project was to include 153 long term care beds and a 37 space child daycare.
