Comox: $5.9 million buildng permit for the Comox Fire Station Replacement project
A building permit with a value of $5,954,360 has been issued for the Fire Station replacement project. Lacasse Construction was awarded the Construction Manager contract in December 2025. In January, Council approved a Municipal Finance Authority Loan of up to $7 million to fund construction, and passed a motion authorizing construction of the Fire Station Replacement if the total Class A cost is less than $6.1 million. As proposed, the current office/classroom portion of the building will be demolished to allow for a three-storey facility. The fire truck bay area will remain the same. A feature of the new facility will be up to five bedrooms on the top floor to provide on-site overnight presence and affordable housing.
Campbell River: 26 bare land strata with 20 single-family and 6 duplexes
BroadStreet Properties and Seymour Pacific Developments submitted a letter of intent in December 2025 for Timber Ridge Phase 4 – 26 Bare Land Strata Lots on a 1.06 hectare site, followed by a Major Development Permit for Form and Character, a Minor DP for Streamside in January 2026. Both applications received a review letter in March and the City waiting for revised submissions. A Letter for Subdivision Conditions to subdivide 775 Peterson into two lots was granted in March 2025, with another Letter for Subdivision Conditions for 26 lots granted in October 2025 with the applicant asked to re-submit drawings to meet city standards. The project proposes the creation of 26 bareland strata residential lots, arranged along internal strata roads with a centralized amenity/playground area (335.24m²) and landscaped buffers. The subdivision will be developed as 20 single-family and 6 duplex style residential units with varied roof forms and coordinated exterior finishes.
Campbell River: 40-unit townhouse development
The 40-unit townhouse development in the Quinsam Heights neighbourhood of Campbell River is advancing, with Blacktail Contracting confirmed as the builder for the subdivision and managing subtrades directly. A Letter of Subdivision Conditions was granted in Oct 2024. The project spans a 3.94-acre site and will include a mix of duplex and triplex units, with Phase 1 delivering 15 townhomes. Civil works have been underway, with construction of the townhouse component anticipated to follow. The development team is currently progressing subdivision registration and the Developer Disclosure Statement, with marketing expected to begin upon completion of those processes.
