Port Alberni: Forest Road Maintenance Contact
The Ministry of Forests is seeking a contractor to provide “as and when” maintenance services for Forest Service Roads around the Port Alberni area. The contract includes routine road maintenance, emergency storm response, road surface and structural repairs, bridge and engineered structure installations, drainage improvements, culvert replacements, grading, ditch cleaning, right-of-way brushing, riprap placement, erosion control, signage, snow plowing and traffic control. Contractors must be capable of responding to emergency repair requests within 24 hours when directed by the Ministry. The estimated contract duration is 32 months. The tender closes July 31.
Black Creek: DP’s approved for RV Park and Tap House
The Comox Valley Regional District has issued Commercial and Industrial (Form and Character) Development Permits for a 45-site recreational vehicle (RV) campground at 2084 Saratoga Road and a new Tap House along the Island Highway in Black Creek. Saratoga Beach Golf Club intends to convert the existing driving range into an RV campground featuring 45 gravel RV pads (approximately 125 m² each) with septic connections, fire pits, seating areas and shared animal-proof garbage bins. Additional amenities include a 120 m² laundry and washroom building, a 23 m² change room and mechanical building, an outdoor swimming pool, open lawn areas, asphalt roads, permeable walkways, two septic fields (primary and backup), and a buried stormwater retention facility. The new Tap House has been designed in collaboration with the adjacent Saratoga Motorsports Park, with the building and outdoor patios oriented toward the motorsports facility. As proposed, the restaurant will be two-storey with 4,250-square-foot of space. The building will feature a monitor barn-style roof, black standing-seam metal roofing, black metal cladding, heavy timber accents, a stone chimney and covered outdoor gathering spaces. Both projects are subject to landscaping deposits.
Gold River: Design Team for a Wellbeing Centre
Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation is requesting proposals for design phase services for the Child and Family Wellbeing Centre in Tsaxana, near Gold River. The successful proponent will advance the completed feasibility study into a coordinated design package to support capital funding, technical review, permitting, cost confirmation and future construction tendering. The project includes approximately 9,114 sq.ft. of new construction, 2,407 sq.ft. of substantial renovation, 2,165 sq.ft. of light refurbishment, and 4,738 sq.ft. of demolition, for an overall built scope of approximately 13,686 sq.ft. Planned work also includes storm and sewer infrastructure, electrical upgrades, generator and solar upgrades, centralized HVAC, roads and parking, landscaping, and greenhouse and garden relocation. The preferred proponent is anticipated to be selected by August 30, 2026 (pending Indigenous Services Canada funding confirmation), with the design phase expected to begin in September 2026. The maximum budget for the design services assignment is $1 million, excluding applicable taxes. This tender closes August 5.
